HADASSAH COLLEGE JERUSALEM
- is a democratizing influence on education in Israel that raises the level of Israeli society.
- services 1,600 students, has six academic departments and eight associate degrees departments.
- includes in its pluralistic student body men, women, secular, haredi, Jews, Arabs, Circassians, Druze, Christians, Bedouins, and new immigrants.
- provides scholarships for more than 600 students who then must be involved in community work.
- nurtures, educates, guides and enables its students to gain a productive place in Israeli society without compromising the level of education.
- academic track has a price tag of $7,200 per student per year and the associate track is $4,800. But HCJ requires $9,000 per student. Where does the money come from? The students pay tuition and the government provides support along with the assistance of Hadassah through chapter quota remittances, major and special gifts.
- serves disadvantaged students who may be physically or learning disabled or those to whom Hebrew is a second language through the Challenge Center that supports 587 students. Mentoring is very important to creating student success and a low dropout rate.
- has a residence in downtown Jerusalem housing 150 students. (More than 250 applied.) The residence is in response to terror incidents on buses, enabling students to walk to classes.
When you donate a scholarship for an HCJ student your chapter receives quota credit. Contact your chapter fundraising vice-president.
